Virtual reality comes to wedding videography

ReVeil Media innovates wedding videography by integrating virtual reality, enabling couples to relive their special day through immersive 360-degree footage via VR headsets, computers, or mobile devices. This technology offers videographers a new revenue stream, allows venues to showcase spaces virtually, and provides wedding professionals with enhanced exposure opportunities.

The wedding technology company is not building its business solely around filming weddings itself. Instead, it is developing a model that allows existing wedding videographers to add virtual reality to their services while partnering with wedding venues to turn real weddings into virtual showrooms for future couples.

How ReVeil Works with Videographers

ReVeil began by filming weddings directly, but after attracting attention online, including exposure from Meta, the founders started receiving inquiries from wedding videographers interested in offering the technology themselves. This led ReVeil to shift towards a business-to-business model.

Under this model, the videographer books the couple and captures compatible 360-degree footage. The files are then uploaded to ReVeil, which handles the technology needed to create and deliver the immersive experience. ReVeil charges participating videographers a flat $495 per wedding.

The videographer determines what to charge the couple, and ReVeil does not dictate the retail price or take a percentage of the videographer’s package. This creates the possibility for videographers to add a new product without having to develop proprietary virtual reality software.

ReVeil’s Venue Showroom Program

ReVeil has also introduced a free VR Showroom program for wedding venues. The program allows venues to show couples an actual wedding that previously took place in that space, rather than an empty room. Couples can experience these weddings through a VR headset or explore the 360-degree footage from a phone or computer.

For venue sales teams, wedding footage could become more than just marketing content – it becomes part of the venue tour. The venue pays nothing for its page, VR Showroom, or inquiries, and ReVeil does not take a percentage of the venue’s rates.

Participating venues receive personal referral codes, and when the first referred couple hires ReVeil and has their wedding filmed, that wedding opens the venue’s VR Showroom. Additional ReVeil weddings filmed at the property can then be added to the showroom, with ReVeil’s direct-to-couple wedding coverage starting at $4,995.

ReVeil’s platform can work with multiple cameras capable of shooting 360-degree video, and the company recommends at least 8K resolution. This means filmmakers do not necessarily have to replace their traditional cameras, as 360-degree capture becomes another layer of coverage.

With ReVeil’s model, one strong piece of wedding content could potentially create visibility for more than the professional who posted it, as every post from a wedding carries the whole vendor team. ReVeil says its 360-degree content can also be viewed on a desktop or mobile device, with users able to drag, swipe, and scroll to look around the room.

Benefits for Wedding Venues

ReVeil’s VR Showroom program is also available to wedding venues, providing them with a unique way to showcase their spaces to potential clients. The program allows venues to share actual weddings that have taken place on their premises, giving couples a more immersive and realistic view of the space.
